Hudson River Valley Barns

Staatsburg, NY

We were asked to survey and document this historic barn complex on an estate along the Hudson River in Staatsburg, NY in preparation for the barns’ restoration and reuse. These picturesque structures are tightly nestled into the surrounding landscape. The attention to detail, texture, and ornamentation on the exteriors is extraordinary, and the construction methods are uncommon. The gambrel roofs are supported by plank framed bents and purlins, and the silo is made of thin laminated and bevel boards.
