Villa Maria

Water Mill, NY

This Hamptons estate is on the waterfront along the Montauk Highway in Water Mill, Southampton. The house was originally built in the 1890’s as a private residence, was extensively renovated and added onto in 1918, and was used as a convent since the 1940’s. We were commissioned to return it back to a private estate. By removing additions that had been built from the 1950’s through the 1980’s, and adding a new wing in keeping with the original structure, the house now has an overall balance and consistency. We added a loggia which connects the main house to a new carriage house, containing guest quarters on the second floor. The landscape was completely reconfigured, with a new tennis court, pool, gardens, and pool houses. The gate house was also restored.
